100% Attendance

Hazel Partridge and pupils

Attendance has always been a key focus of the NHLC and now parents and carers across North Huyton can take advantage of a network of support to ensure children make the most of their education.

Hazel Partridge (pictured above with just a few pupils at Longview School who have 100% attendance) was appointed in February 2010 as NHLC Early Intervention Caseworker. 'My role is often a wake up call to parents' she explained. 'I talk to the families of pupils with attendance of below 90% to offer support and bring that figure up to the national average of 95%.'

The harsh British winter had a affect on many children's attendance. 'They've been passing viruses to each other more than usual' Hazel said. 'Some parents don't realise that an ill mark still counts as an absence, and can have a significant impact on overall attendance.'
