Attendance Alert!

13 Aug 09

Attendance AlertYear 5 'Young Journalists' from St Columba's were given a special assignment by the NHLC!

The assignment was based on attendance and punctuality. The Year 5 Journalists asked their Headmaster, Mr Dunne, why attendance is so important. He replied, "Every day in school you learn something new, so if you miss a day then you'll have to work twice as hard to catch up on your work."

"We've come up with a reward system to help attendance, " he continued. "If you get to school on time and are in for a whole week, you get a ticket. At the end of the school term we pull out a ticket from a hat and the winning ticket gets the change to win a bike!" (Mr Dunne thinks giving away a bike is wheely good).

Pupils at St Columba's think there school is a really cool place to learn and the Year 5 Young Journalists learnt alot taking part in the last issue of 'Reach for Success' and hope that they can take part next year. Their aim was to bring a good message back to pupils of their school and to many others that they hope will continue throughout the years. Their message is...'Attendance is cool so stay in school! Otherwise you might not get the job you wanted!'
