Supporting Early Years
06 Feb 09
Creating the right enviroment for learning in the Early Years is a vital part of ensuring children make the most of their education. Getting it right at the beginning will see the NHLC's youngest pupils rewarded as they progress through school.
Working together as a Collaborative, six of our schools have embarked on developing The Communication Friendly Spaces approach which focuses on the role of enviroment in supporting engagement, exploration and learning with a particular emphasis on speaking and listening skills and boys development.
The work involves examining best practice based around the key areas of resources, physical enviroment and adult input.
"This is an exciting time for Collaborative schools and working with the Communication Friendly Spaces team we will implement a huge change in how our youngest pupils begin their school career." Deborah McArdle (NHLC Programme Director).
